Dusk arrival at the top of this mountain.
Night descends after wending
roaming lonely kilometres of
barely healed – bloodless
paths of trucks long gone,
stubborn pines arising,
A whole plateau,
freshly headless and accusatory.
patient sleepers in the amethyst-brush.
Somehow we’ve made ourselves known
to entire empires of undercrawlers,
insect instrumentalists of
realms betwixt dawn’s dew,
and sleeping among them
again we find our precocious rarity:
the nameless breezes seem to breathe
garlands of stars
a cosmos embroidered with
intelligent pearls for this planet,
“One of the most significant developments
in the evolution of any organism
is when it becomes conscious of its own evolution.”
Heart as starfruit, pure-tasting quiet.
